The Fellows Experience is designed to address the unique interests and challenges faced by professionals of color as they advance their careers, helping them overcome systemic barriers and expand their leadership capacity. Participants will embark on a transformative journey, focusing on professional development, relationship building, and civic engagement.

This program nurtures a diverse cohort of future leaders who, as they advance into leadership positions, positively impact their own companies and communities, driving inclusive economic growth in St. Louis and beyond. Now in its 16th year, the Fellows Experience has grown into a vast network with more than 1,200 alumni across the nation. Once you become part of the Fellows Experience network, you’re able to tap into this wealth of knowledge, experience, and perspective to continue your professional development.

Program Overview

The year-long Fellows Experience includes monthly full-day sessions and a three-day retreat, as well as optional after-hours events. See the 2024-2025 schedule.

  • The Fellows Experience offers a robust curriculum, featuring expert-led sessions on themes like personal brand development, effective leadership tools, career equity building, diversity in the workplace, strategic leadership, volunteerism, organizational development, ethics, and practical application of knowledge for career success.
  • In an open environment, participants reflect on their goals, performance, operating styles, and adaptation to varied workplace cultures.
  • Access to forums, social events, and conferences fosters a supportive professional and personal network essential to long-term growth and development.
  • Through volunteer and civic activities, Fellows hone their skills, expand their relationships, and deepen their connection with the broader community.

Who Should Apply

The Fellows Experience welcomes individuals from all ethnicities and racial backgrounds, including Black, Hispanic, American Indian, Asian/Pacific Islander, and other people of color. If you are a mid- to senior-level professional with a minimum of seven years work experience, demonstrated leadership in the community, and a college degree (or the equivalent skill and abilities), this program is designed for you.
