Greater St. Louis, Inc. Hosts Annual Day at the Illinois Capitol
On March 9, Greater St. Louis, Inc. and its investors had the opportunity to meet virtually with Illinois House and Senate Leadership at our annual day at the capitol.
We discussed Greater St. Louis, Inc.’s top policy priorities, which include investment in Illinois’ entrepreneurs, ending frivolous and costly lawsuits caused by the Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA), streamlining construction of transportation infrastructure projects, and supporting Scott Air Force Base and a fiscally responsible budget.
“Last year, Greater St. Louis, Inc. was proud to advocate for and advance inclusive, pro-growth public policy in Illinois,” said Tracy Henke, Chief Policy Officer and President, ChamberSTL. “This session, we are focused on supporting our servicemembers and their families at Scott Air Force Base, improving the state’s legal climate, supporting entrepreneurs, and streamlining transportation infrastructure projects.”
House Majority Leader Greg Harris (D-Chicago) and House Assistant Majority Leader Jay Hoffman (D-Belleville) spoke about how important the metro’s success is to the entire state and highlighted budget and policy priorities that will benefit the metro, including MidAmerica St. Louis Airport, energy initiatives, and legislation that will streamline road construction projects.
Investors also heard from Clark Kaericher, Senior Vice President of Government Affairs at the Illinois Chamber of Commerce, and regional lawmakers Senators Christopher Belt (D-East St. Louis), Rachelle Crowe (D-Wood River), Jason Plummer (R-Edwardsville), and Terri Bryant (R-Murphysboro), and Representatives LaToya Greenwood (D-East St. Louis), Katie Stuart (D-Edwardsville), and Amy Elik (R-Alton).
There was a collective message echoed by each of our metro elected representatives: the business and civic communities in Illinois and Missouri must work together to truly help the region reach its full potential. Greater St. Louis, Inc. and our investors look forward to collaborating with House and Senate Leadership and regional lawmakers as we work to expand economic opportunity in every corner of the bi-state St. Louis metro.
