Greater St. Louis, Inc. Hosts Meeting with Lawmakers at Illinois Lobby Day
Greater St. Louis, Inc. Meets with New Illinois Speaker, Senate President, and Regional Lawmakers at Illinois Lobby Day
Today, April 7th, Greater St. Louis, Inc., and its investors had the opportunity to virtually meet with House and Senate Leadership in the Illinois General Assembly. The recently elected Speaker of the House Emanuel Chris Welch (D-Chicago) and President of the Senate Don Harmon (D-Chicago) both emphasized the importance of the St. Louis region in Illinois as the second largest metropolitan area outside of Chicago. Both leaders of their respective bodies were joined by regional lawmakers including Representative LaToya Greenwood (D-East St. Louis), and Senators Jason Plummer (R-Edwardsville), Christopher Belt (D-East St. Louis), and Rachelle Crowe (D-Wood River). Participants on the Zoom call also had the privilege of hearing from the President & CEO of the Illinois Chamber Todd Maisch who spoke about the most important issues impacting business in Illinois this legislative session.
This event showcased our excellent leaders in the Illinois State Capitol who recognize the importance of the St. Louis region. Our discussion focused on a number of important legislative and policy priorities for the region including reciprocal licensure for military members and their families, maximizing the positive impact of federal recovery investment funds, and improving Illinois’ business climate through legal and fiscal reforms. Greater St. Louis, Inc., and our investors look forward to working more collaboratively on these priorities with Speaker Welch, President Harmon, and regional lawmakers as we work to expand economic opportunity in every corner of the St. Louis region.
