The successful Downtown Summer Nights series that adds vibrancy to Downtown St. Louis with movies, music, food, and drinks returns to Kiener Plaza for its second year starting Thursday, June 26. Downtown Summer Nights, presented by Greater St. Louis, Inc., is a weekly summer celebration that will take place in the shadow of the Arch every Thursday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. through August 28. Movies begin at 6 p.m.
"Downtown Summer Nights is the perfect way to celebrate summer in St. Louis, and Kiener Plaza is the perfect place for the celebration,” said Kurt Weigle, Chief Downtown Officer for Greater St. Louis, Inc. “We’re excited to host year two of this terrific experience. What is better than enjoying delicious food and drinks with friends and colleagues in the shadow of the Arch?” Entertainment will include a schedule of outdoor movies and live music each week. The movie lineup — curated in partnership with The Muny — includes musicals “Grease,” “Frozen,” “Mamma Mia!,” and “The Wiz.” Live music acts will be announced soon on the event website stlsummernights.com.
Downtown Summer Nights will culminate with a special Shakespeare in the Park visit to Kiener Plaza, where the St. Louis Shakespeare Festival will perform “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” Thursday, Aug 28. Food and drinks will be available for purchase on site from St. Louis’ favorite food trucks and pop-up bars.
Other Downtown weekly summer activations include the increased infusion of live music throughout Downtown (local musician busking program) and Lunchtime Live (now through October). Lunchtime Live brings food trucks and live music to Old Post Office Plaza every Wednesday, 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. Food truck and musician schedules are updated weekly on downtownstl.org.
